In Australia, 4.2 million people or 20% of the population have a reported disability. Around 1/3 of the population are either personally affected by a disability or directly involved as a family member or carer. Together with their friends and family, the number of people affected by a disability is bigger still and every one of them is a potential customer!
Being accessible and inclusive represents a significant opportunity for any business.
Ability Links NSW Coordinators, know as Linkers, work closely with people living with a disability, their families and carers to support them to fulfil their goals, hopes and dreams. They do this through linking people into their community. Linkers also support businesses to become more aware of accessibility and how it is not only good for the community but 'good for business' and ultimately #great4gosford !
When talking about 'improving access', it's easy to think only in terms of installing ramps, toilets and other fixtures. But one of the simplest and cheapest solutions is to change the way you think about customer service for people living with a disability.
People with disability are very loyal customers when they identify a business that they like - with good products, fair prices, great customer service AND clear accessibility. They, along with their families, carers and friends are more likely to be regular loyal customers.
Better accessibility also benefits the many older people living in our community as well as young families.

Digital Marketing Bootcamp
GBID along with Biz Plus are bringing to you a fantastic workshop on Digital Marketing!
This digital bootcamp is being held over 2 days, on 14 and 15 June, at the Central Coast Leagues Club. Subsidised by the NSW state government, this workshop is being facilitated by Sydney based digital marketing company, Net Stripes, and will include topics such as digital readiness, customer personas, design and thinking, and much more. It will look at the different avenues of digital marketing you might want to consider for your small business.
At the conclusion of the 2 days, you will also receive a one on one session to look at a digital strategy customised especially for your business, totalling 4 hours. This session will help you to build a roadmap to grow your business using a comprehensive digital marketing strategy.
The cost of this session is $100, however, it is worth in excess of $3000!
The dates are Wednesday 14 June, from 1.30pm until 6.15pm, and Thursday 15 June, from 8.30am until 1.30pm. Wednesday night also includes a cocktail networking session, sponsored by Spotcap, from 6.30pm.

Attention all community groups and businesses! GBID has begun planning for the iconic Gosford City Christmas Parade, and we are calling for entries for marchers and floats!
This is a great opportunity to give your community group or business some exposure and promotion. It costs you nothing to enter, and you stand a chance of winning a great prize!
